Day 351: Phone Call

She was dreading it, she had managed to avoid it all day, dodging the calls as they came, letting it go to voicemail. It was finally 5 o’clock and she had made it, she had survived the day without facing her fear.

She packed her bag and made her way home. Ready for the evening ahead, ready to put it all behind her. She felt her phone vibrate in her pocket and dread filled her stomach. It couldn’t be, surely it’s after 5 and no one should still be working, at least not expecting her to be working. She looked down and saw the number, she didn’t know what to do. She stood in the middle of the road watching as it rang, thinking of reasons why she couldn’t face it today. There was always tomorrow she thought. Tomorrow she’ll finally answer the phone call.
