I love the sound you make when we’re in agreement, satisfied with the conclusions we both came to. I love the sound of your keys rattling through the door as you unlock it after a long day at work, you enter the room and greet me with a smile. I love the sound of you breathing as we read together on a Sunday afternoon. I love the sound of celebration that you make whenever your team wins a game. I love the sound of us praying together each night, before bed.
I hate the sound of your snoring during the night, especially when you fall asleep before me and I have to endure the noise. I hate the sound of us arguing, slamming doors, and the inevitable silence that follows. I hate the sound of you leaving in the morning, because I know that it will be another nine hours before I see you again. I hate the sound of dismissal you make, when you are distracted by your phone as I try to speak to you. I hate the sound of your phone ringing when we’re in the middle of dinner and I know that you have to pick it up.
But most of all, I love the sound of you telling me that you love me.
