I stand behind, gazing upwards as he goes. I’m always where he is, always there, but he only sees me when the sun is shining, when everything is bright.
I follow him as he makes his way back home, he’s been walking this walk for 15 minutes now. With each bend he makes my size changes, getting taller and smaller at each corner. I know I only have a few more minuets with him, before he goes indoors where I disappear, except in the dead of night. When the brightness from the light bulbs contrasting with the darkness of the night allows me to come out and play.
We finally reach home, he opens the door and lets us in. I find my corner and I stand there, waiting for the light to come and get me.
